About The Dig

The East End Dig reads every building permit filed with the Towns of East Hampton and Southampton, every week. Teardowns, new builds, pools, zoning fights. All of it, straight from the towns' public records, sent every Monday morning.

Permits are the earliest public record of what's about to happen to a street. A teardown filing usually means a property just changed hands. A tent permit means a party. We read the whole sheet so you don't have to, and we print the clerks' typos as written.
